Annabel McShane Bickford

Annabel Lee McShane Bickford has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of business and human rights, ESG policy, sustainability strategy, and international policy advocacy. She has expertise in policy analysis and strategy development at both the international and national levels and has led policy engagement with numerous Fortune 500 companies, from the C-Suite to the working team level. She is currently the Senior Director of Private Sector Policy at Global Citizen, one of the world’s leading international advocacy organizations. In this role, Annabel is the global lead for private sector advocacy strategy and policy outreach across Global Citizen’s international campaign agenda, with a focus on human rights, climate change/sustainability, hunger, gender equity, economic empowerment, health, and protection of civic space.

Annabel is also an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City and teaches regular seminars on human rights policy, international relations, political participation, US politics/democratic theory, and business and human rights. Annabel also taught for several years at New York State Taconic Women’s Correctional Facility in a four-year undergraduate degree program.

Prior to Global Citizen, Annabel served as Senior Manager for Governance and Human Rights at The B Team and held roles at the Center for American Progress, Oxfam America, Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, and UNICEF, and served as a White House intern during the first term of the Obama Administration. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from American University in Washington DC and a Master’s Degree in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University in New York City.
