Joshua Espinoza

Joshua Espinoza is a Baltimore-based performing musician, recording artist, and entrepreneur whose work bridges creative practice, education, and arts-driven enterprise. An active pianist and collaborator, he maintains a performance career that spans solo work and ensemble projects, with a particular emphasis on jazz adjacent and cross genre repertoire. His recordings and performances reflect a commitment to artistic rigor, experimentation, and long-form creative development.

In parallel with his performing career, Espinoza is deeply engaged in arts entrepreneurship. He is the founder and director of Patterson Park Academy of Music, a community-focused music school serving students of all ages. Under his leadership, the academy has grown from a small startup into a multi-studio operation, expanding faculty, instructional offerings, and community partnerships while navigating the operational realities of sustainable arts-based for-profit. His entrepreneurial work centers on building durable institutions that translate artistic values into viable organizational models.

Espinoza teaches piano at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he works closely with emerging musicians preparing for professional careers. He regularly mentors students on professional development, creative entrepreneurship, and the realities of artistic practice.

In addition to his artistic and educational work, Espinoza serves as a Trustee of Green Street Academy, a nonprofit charter school in West Baltimore. In this governance role, he contributes to strategic planning, organizational oversight, and the advancement of equitable, high-quality education.
